EZOut Kits – Connection Options for Creality V4.X.X Boards – J1 Header and LCD Header

Overview

The Creality V4.X.X boards have 2 different ways to connect the EZOut filament sensor to them with our kits. One uses our LCD adapter header board and the other uses our standard version board. Both achieve the same end result, adding a filament sensor to the printer, but they connect differently and have different firmware settings.

For those that want to DIY a connection, you can also use just a sensor with the J1 header option but this is a DIY thing that requires you to re-pin the cable, this is discussed below. Please note that this is provided as-is and do so at your own risk. TH3D Studio LLC is not responsible for improper re-pinning and/or damage done by the end-user to their EZOut kits and/or control boards.

LCD Header Adapter Board Kits

Back in the days of the “Melzi” boards, we did not have many free IO pins on the board. We developed the EZOut adapter PCB to re-route the LCD beeper pin to a 3 pin header on the EZOut board as well as power lines for the sensor itself. These boards work on the newer V4.X.X boards but you will lose the beeper function on the LCD.

Firmware setup: This method of connecting uses the EZOUT_ENABLE line in our firmware to set it up.

These adapter boards are still sold and if you have an older one from a prior purchase you can still use it on your new V4.X.X board if you upgrade your control board.

Standard Adapter Board Kits – Connects to the J1 Header

V3 EZOut kits plug directly into the J1 Header. DO NOT REWIRE ANY END OF THE V3 SENSOR CABLE.

Just plug in the end with the label to the sensor side and the other end to your control board.
